I currently have a Canon PowerShot SD200 – Digital Elph. It’s 3.2 mp.

Personally, I love it. It captures great pictures, but I’m ready for something new. Also, I want something that is just as easy to use. And if possible, I want the next camera to have overexposure capabilities.

I know if I want to take "good" pictures, I need an SLR or whatever you call them, but I want a camera that has the ability to take really nice photos.

I dig Canon, but I am open to other makers.

My price range is around 0 – 250 (ish).

Please help, I don’t want to ask random sales people.

Thanks. :)

Is the Canon PowerShot A720 IS good?
What does "Exposure compensation" mean? I’m on review sites, and I keep seeing this.

Ok, I’m looking for a camera for Christmas. I really want a more advanced one, like the large black ones-but not an SLR. I have it narrowed down to two, the Kodak Easyshare Z1015 which costs 9.95 and has all these cool features, takes an SD card, and has 15x optical zoom and 10 megapixels. The other camera is the Nikon Coolpix L100 which costs 9.99 and has good features as well, takes an SD card, and has 15x optical zoom and 10 Megapixels. I think I like the Kodak one more, it seems to have more…stuff? as well as one of those old-time viewfinders I could look through to see if the sun was too bright to use the LCD screen, but the Nikon one says it will still be visible, even in direct sunlight. Then, the Coolpix one is much moe affordable and several stores are having sales on it for blackfriday.
I just want to know which one YOU think is better. Maybe, you own one or know someone who does and can tell me pros/cons regarding each camera. Here’s the links, though, if you want to look at them and let me know which one you think would be better and more reasonable. Thank-you!!

Im looking for a nice Digital SLR, But many of them are out of my price range. At the moment I have about 600 dollars to spend, which may change when I earn more money. I have no idea what brand to get though. I hear Nikons are good, and I had a 35mm Pentax that i used for Fine art photography that served me VERY well for years! Also, I’m not used to the DSLRs since Im used to 35mms but so Im kinda looking for a basic one that’s good for beginners but not so simple that It doesn’t do much or gets me bored.

Any suggestions will help because I’m a little lost and come black friday(SALES!), I don’t wanna spend an arm and a leg or buy something really cheap. THANKS!

Ever since i was 14 (I’m 23 now) i have wanted a Digital SLR camera
But they are pricey..

This year i have been shopping for one.
With xmas money and bday money that i have received i plan on getting a camera. If it wasn’t for this money i wouldn’t even consider buying one right now.
I found a few that i like on sale for 0. Which is a good deal.

However i feel guilty about spending the money on it cuz i’m not exactly rolling in the dough.

Do i buy the camera? Or do i save my xtra money?
(Plus I’ll be getting some xtra money from my financial aid reimbursement, so i can always save that, and use it toward bills.)

haha I’m so torn!

I have a beautiful Pentax SLR, not digital of course. I have two lenses that go with it – they are the main reason I’d like my upgrade to a Digital SLR to be a Pentax as well – so I can still use those lenses. Does anyone out there have advice for a Pentax shopper? Why is the K200D about 0 – 0 more than its competitors? Should I splurge and get the K20D? Does anyone know any fabulous sale sights for Pentax cameras? I wouldn’t mind getting a refurbished one.

i have 2 point and shoot digital cameras but am looking to upgrade. I would like a camera with better zoom than the usual 3x, probably something with image stabilization to go along with that. the key features i’m looking for though, is something that can take pictures QUICKLY as i’m primarily taking shots of my toddler, and she doesn’t stay still, and i often feel like i’m missing the good shots while waiting for the camera to be ready again. i’d also like something with a sports mode, for the same reason. besides photos of her, i’d also be using the camera for family pictures and scenery when on vacation, and the occasional night shots. i don’t mind getting a slightly larger camera than the compacts, and if the $$ is worth it i’ll save up (or find a good sale) for the more expensive cameras. i’m intrigued by the SLR cameras but don’t know if the size was decrease the likelihood of its use.

all advice greatfully accepted (since we’re going on vacation in a week and a half!!)

I’m an self-taught amateur photographer, but I’m interested in a low-cost SLR camera. Right now I have a Fugifilm FinePix S5700 (http://flickr.com/cameras/fujifilm/finepix_s5700/) but I’m really not satisfied with it. Recently I’ve been using my mother’s Canon Rebel EOS FILM camera (egad!), but I’ve been getting really good results with it– the subject is in crisp, clear focus, but the background is slighty out-of-focus. I don’t know the exactly terminology for that effect, but if there’s a digital SLR camera out there that does that, please tell me.
