i’m buying the camera over the internet, and it is saying that they don’t have the battery charger or the battery because they already gave that away.

The Sony Alpha DSLRs use camera specific rechargeable batteries. A battery and charger will be supplied with your camera. Additional batteries will be about $100 though if you aren’t planning to take thousands of photographs in one go, you won’t need a spare.
